OuR PURPOSE

To ignite a greater passion for following Jesus

As a Life Group, we will encourage one another to know Christ better
and to live Spirit-filled lives in the world to the glory of God.

OUR VISION

To see the body connect with each other as we share life together, inspire growth in Christ as we make disciples, and serve our community

We live this out through the cultivation of godly relationships, praying together, and the study and application of God’s word that results in love, support, and encouragement of one another and provides a witness of God’s love to the surrounding community.

YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.
WE HAVE ANSWERS.

Many people are familiar with the concept of small group ministry within the local church.

These groups can be identified by many different names:

cell groups, small groups, house groups, Bible study groups, discipleship groups, growth groups, etc.

Here at Kalaheo Mish, we choose to call them Life Groups.

We’ve compiled some commonly asked questions about our Life Groups.

What is a Life group?

A Life Group is a small gathering of people who desire to go deeper in their relationship with Jesus and other Jesus Followers.

The Life Groups are all about building community within the family of God. They are a place where we connect with other believers, learn and apply God’s word, pray together, and share our joys and burdens. The groups become a great source of support and encouragement for all the members. They are, at their essence, a place where we practice being the family of God. The groups are where our care and love for one another is an unmistakable reflection of God’s love; it’s a reflection that becomes a powerful example to the surrounding community.

The Life Groups have both an inward focus and an outward expression. They meet weekly to offer care and support  inwardly to our group members but then look for outward  opportunities to show our care and concern to those who don’t yet know the love of God.

How important are Life Groups?

We consider Life Groups to be the hub of our ministry. They are the place where the real ministry of the church takes place as we encourage, support, and challenge one another. God doesn’t want us to be left to walk alone – we need each other. We want to be a church family, not an anonymous crowd!

What does a typical Life Group meeting look like?

Life Groups meet for approximately 90 minutes at each gathering. The meetings include three distinct elements; “growing close,” where we get to know each one a little better, “growing wise,” where we study God’s word and get to know Him a little better, and “growing up,” where we share our lives and pray for one another. Each group meets on a specific night of the week.

Which group should I join?

We suggest you join a group based on your “station in life” rather than geography or the most convenient night of the week. We’ve found that a group works best when you share common interests, backgrounds, marital status, or similar-aged children. Frankly, sometimes it might take two or three groups before you find the perfect fit. But don’t worry, you’ll find it!

OUR COMMITMENT

As we gather in Life Groups, we agree to abide by these values:

LOVE

RESPECT:

We agree to communicate in ways that are respectful and to be available to one another and listen, encourage, support, and lovingly tell the truth. (Philippians 2:4)

CONFIDENTIALITY:

We agree that whatever is shared here stays here. This includes what is shared through phone calls, e-mails, etc. We want this group to be a safe place to grow. Of course, anything that falls within the mandatory reporting laws of the State of Hawaii is excluded from an expectation of confidentiality. (Proverbs 11:13)

INTERCESSION

PRAYER:

We agree to make time to pray for each other at meetings and throughout the week. All prayer requests will be kept confidential unless specifically communicated otherwise. (Ephesians 6:18)

FELLOWSHIP

FELLOWSHIP:

We agree to have genuine fellowship by building deeper, open, and honest relationships with one another. We will live out the “one anothers” in the Bible, such as “be devoted to one another” (Romans 12:10), “serve one another” (Galatians 5:13), and “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2).

PRIORITY:

We agree to give priority to our Life Group meetings. We will call ahead if we are running late or can’t make a meeting. We expect phones to be put aside or ignored during Life Group time, except for emergencies and providing a way for your children to call. (Ephesians 5:15,16)

PARTICIPATION:

We agree to come prepared to the best of our ability for our Life Group meeting, having gone over any materials necessary to participate actively in the discussion. (Proverbs 24:27)

ENCOURAGEMENT

SPIRITUAL GROWTH:

We agree to encourage one another to live a life aligned with God’s principles and reflects the character and nature of Jesus. (Hebrews 10:24,25)

OPENNESS:

We will seek to be open and honest with each other. Our small group is a place where we can take off our masks, be ourselves, and be accepted for who we are. (Romans 15:7)
